NSFAS Funding
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) provides loans to students who demonstrate academic potential but lack the financial means to pursue their studies. This funding covers tuition fees, accommodation, study materials, and living expenses. To apply:

Visit the NSFAS website and create a myNSFAS account.

Complete the online application form and upload the necessary documents.

Funza Lushaka Teaching Bursary
The Funza Lushaka Teaching Bursary aims to attract high-caliber students into the teaching profession. This bursary covers tuition, accommodation, books, and a living allowance. To apply:

Academic Merit Bursary
Academic Merit Bursaries are awarded to full-time first, second, or third-year students who meet the academic criteria. These bursaries are automatically awarded; no application is needed. Part-time contact registered students must apply for this bursary, receiving 50% of the standard allocation.
Family Discount
NWU offers a family discount for students who have siblings studying at the university. Annual re-application is required:

Second student: 15% off tuition fees

Third student: 20% off tuition fees

Fourth student: 25% off tuition fees, and so on.
Leadership Bursary
This bursary is for head boys and head girls from Grade 12. Eligible students must have already gained admission to the university. This is a once-off bursary awarded in the first year of study.
Support Bursary
The Support Bursary is for students who have already gained admission to the university and are:

Orphaned or in foster care, with necessary evidence.

Physically challenged, with necessary evidence.
Arts and Culture Bursary
Arts and Culture Bursaries apply for one year only. Recipients are expected to engage in the university’s arts and culture activities. Only individual achievements are considered; group achievements and Olympiads/Expos are excluded.
