UWC (University of Western Cape) is providing different types of bursaries for the students in need. They understand that excellent and bright students from disadvantaged background and families are struggling hard to complete their study. The bursaries are given to provide a financial assistance to lessen their burden. The merit awards have their own requirements and procedural schemes that may change withut prior notice. For the first year students, they can participate in the NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme) programme and the interested participants should directly submit the required documentation to the official website at www.nsfas.org.za.
For UWC merit awards, the interested participants should be the first year South African students with good academic performance and achievement. The possible funding includes level 7 that covers all the tuition fees up to 100% and level 6 that covers 75% of the tuition fees. Merit awards are also provided for the senior students where they are required to show their academic record with good and stable performance. For the senior students, however, the bursary only covers partial of their tuition fees. Different closing dates are applied for different programmes. Anyone interested in getting the UWC bursaries should check https://www.uwc.ac.za/Students/Financial-Matters/Pages/Financial-Aid.aspx for further info.
